In this volume Chirol traces the development of freedom movement as a clash of two civilizations; one which according to him is progressive under the influence of British policy and the another drawing upon the ancient, producing the force of resistance accentuated by ‘Non-cooperation Movement’. Chirol feels that ‘Non-cooperation’ has arraigned every form of racial, religious, economics and political discontent against the British rule.
